One of India's grandest festivals, it epitomizes the victory of good over evil and celebrates the goddess as the motherly power behind all of life and creation.
Ma Durga
The auspicious festival of Durga Puja is an annual five-day celebration originating in the Indian subcontinent which pays homage to the goddess Maa Durga. It celebrates the victory of good over evil as goddess Durga killed demon king Mahishasur.
Shindoor Khela and Dhunuchi Naach
One of the most important rituals of the final day of Durga Puja festivities is Sindur Khela, where married women in Bengal smear each other with sindur or vermillion and pray for the long lives of their husband.
